Ripples of Sound 174Hz

Cymatics is the visualization of audio frequencies, using sand on a speaker plate, called a Chladni Plate. This is the visual representation of 174 Hz. The lines were allowed to dry in a natural state – allowing vertical waves, a liberty I took with the art. This piece was part of an art exhibit at the Falls Church Art Gallery.

The piece is embroidered with thread using free-motion embroidery on a regular sewing machine, mounted on pins and framed.

I enjoy making art but also want to be as sustainable as possible – so I upcycle and restore tossed out home decor into beautiful works of art.
