Butterfly Blues

Butterfly specimens without having the real thing. The first one is Euphaedra crockeri, or Crocker’s forester, found in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast and Ghana. The middle butterfly is Batesia Hypochlora or painted beauty, found in the upper Amazon. The bottom butterfly is the Siseme Militaris found in Peru.

The piece is embroidered with thread using free-motion embroidery on a regular sewing machine, mounted on pins and framed.

I enjoy making art but also want to be as sustainable as possible – so I upcycle and restore tossed out home decor into beautiful works of art.
