Dancer of the Sea

Seahorses mate for life and dance around each other, weaving around objects, everyday to renew this bond. As a fellow dancer, I wanted to showcase this fascinating and unique creature in textile form.

The seahorse and some of the seagrass is embroidered using free-motion embroidery on a regular sewing machine, mounted with pins and framed.. The rest of the seagrass is painted watercolor paper, all mounted on a custom painted backdrop.
