Ginkgo Branch

Ginkgos are known as fossils of the plant world, one of the oldest plants alive. It’s unique fan shaped leaves are an intriguing and inspired me to make this branch. Leaves are layered to show it a bit more realistic. The leaves are purposely not filled in so light can add a layer of shadows on the white background.

The piece is embroidered with thread using free-motion embroidery on a regular sewing machine, mounted on pins and framed.

I enjoy making art but also want to be as sustainable as possible – so I upcycle and restore tossed out home decor into beautiful works of art.
